Expertise
Chris advises clients on property issues of a contentious nature, whether they be in the landlord and tenant sector or real property disputes.
Before qualifying as a solicitor Chris worked for a leading Property Management firm and so developed a strong knowledge of the residential landlord and tenant market. He has now developed a specialism of advising managing agents, residents management companies and tenants on legal issues in this field from service charge disputes to forfeiture and disrepair claims.
In the area of residential long leases Chris also advises both landlords and tenants on enfranchisement claims, lease extensions, right of first refusal notices, Right to Manage and applications to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal to appoint a manager.
In the commercial sector, Chris also advises both landlords and tenants on dilapidations claims, contested and uncontested business lease renewals, possession/forfeiture claims and debt recovery issues.
In addition to this, outside of landlord and tenant work, Chris’ expertise in real property includes restrictive covenant and rights of way disputes, which often arise in the context of actual or intended development. He also deals with trespass, nuisance and co-ownership disputes which occur in a variety of different contexts.
Chris adopts a pragmatic and commercial approach to dispute resolution in all of its forms and this is often commended by his clients.
