Chris Cook advises employers and employees on all human resource matters – ensuring their practices keep them compliant and as protected from risk as possible. He also advises and represents clients against allegations and disputes.
Chris is an experienced negotiator and drafts employment contracts, service agreements and staff handbooks for organisations in many different sectors. He also has extensive experience in the employment aspects of commercial transactions, particularly those that deal with sensitive issues such as restructuring and redundancy.
Chris is also Governor for St Columba's College in St Albans.
Key Experience and Clients
- Advised on the organisational restructuring of a major national membership association, which included a number of high-level redundancies
- Successfully defended a property investment group from multiple claims of sex and disability discrimination
- Advised a services provider on restrictive covenant issues that include alleged employee breaches of duty of fidelity, duty of confidentiality, contractual restrictions and theft
- Advised on the restructuring of a UK subsidiary of a large Australian IT company, together with its subsequent merger with another UK company
- Advised on the employment aspects of the purchases of several care homes, dealing with due diligence and the implications of TUPE
