Employment lawyer Chris Cook recently joined the panel of speakers for the East of England Employment Relations Forum (EEERF) Autumn Conference on change management. Alongside presentations from three other experts, Chris focused on the legal implications of initiating major change within the workplace – covering key topics such as its effect on employee contracts and agreements, requirements under TUPE (transfer of undertakings) and the effective handling of redundancy.

“Employers need to tread very carefully when it comes to change management,” explains Chris. “A vast array of employment legislation exists to protect employees from unnecessary disruption. A foot wrong could land an employer in front of a tribunal.”

Speaking to the 45-strong delegation of businesses, trade unions, academics, local government representatives and employment advisors, Chris ended his session with a short update on recent legislative developments. This included notes on the handling of grievances and harassment and the new expectations placed on businesses under the concept of ‘family friendly’ working.

SA Law has already been invited to speak at the next EEERF Autumn Conference.
