Hertfordshire-based law firm SA Law LLP has beefed up its employment division with the appointment of Tracy Lacey-Smith and Vanessa James as Partners and joint Heads of the Department.

Lacey-Smith and James were previously joint heads of the successful employment department at Curwens and will be joined in the employment department at SA Law by an assistant solicitor and trainee, both of whom were formerly at Curwens.

James has acted on a broad range of employment cases for both employers and high net worth clients and has particular expertise in advising on lengthy, complicated and protracted grievances and disciplinaries from the initial compliant to conclusion at an Employment Tribunal.

Lacey-Smith also has experience in all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law and has acted on a number of high profile cases.

The move reflects the continued growth at SA Law, which was founded in 2005 following a management buy-out. The expansion of the employment department follows recent, senior appointments in SA Law’s corporate and property department, meaning that the firm is well placed to meet its target of 100% growth within five years.

Stephen Ryan, SA Law’s Managing Partner, commented on the expansion of the employment team:

“Our burgeoning Employment Department reflects the growing demand for employment law advice and representation from public and private sector organisations, from large corporations and from our core client base, which is small to medium sized enterprises.

“As a growing firm, we are proud of our ability to understand the commercial needs of our clients, whilst providing good value, high quality legal advice. Tracy and Vanessa have demonstrated that they are well-suited to this culture and I am sure that they will be instrumental in the future growth of the employment team and the firm as a whole.”
