SA Law 'Smart Alecs' raise over £6400 for The Willow Foundation

Date 1 December 2008

St Albans based law firm SA Law has raised over £6400 for The Willow Foundation at its ‘Smart Alecs’ Quiz night, held on 20 November at Watford Football Club.

The Willow Foundation, based in Hatfield, is a national charity that provides special days for 16 to 40 year olds with life threatening illnesses. The charity was set up by Arsenal legend Bob Wilson and his wife, in memory of their daughter Anna who died of cancer aged just 31.

The quiz pitted twenty teams, comprised of both national companies and local businesses, against each other for 6 gruelling rounds of questions and a marathon round. Among the competitors were RBS, Clydesdale and Racing Green with a team put in by Lambert Smith Hampton and Langleybury Property emerging victorious in the quiz. Ironically, Watford Football Club won the marathon round after a challenging tie-breaker with the team from Buyagift.com.

Bob Wilson had this to say; "We are lucky enough to count SA Law as one of our most ardent supporters, with some members of the firm involved since we started back in 1999. We are grateful to them for organising a terrific event, and the money raised will help us provide special days for young adults living with serious illness."

Rob Ryall, Partner at SA Law commented; “It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and great to see so many local businesses getting behind such a worthwhile cause."

SA Law regularly raises money for the Willow Foundation more information can be found in our Community section.
