Date 19 September 2011
Welcome back to this autumnal edition of Stay Alert and I do hope you enjoyed the Great British summer! Sunlight, as well as sunshine, was clearly in short supply but that did not prevent our own radio pundit, Chris Alexander, from writing a feature on 'Solar Panels' and the implications when moving house. You can read more about this below. Also in this edition:-
- Jacqui Button comments on the challenges facing the planning system in "Planning for War". She follows this up with an article concerning the proposal for a Premier Inn in St Albans in her piece "Not so Premier Inn".
- David Linklater highlights the impending changes to the Commercial Leases Code with a particular focus on service charge.
- Chris Alexander comments on a recent innocent misrepresentation case which will be of interest to developers.
- Mike Harvey features in our usual light hearted interview with a member of the team.
As ever, I do hope you will find this month's edition of Stay Alert useful. We will return in a few weeks time with further topical commentary which will include a report back on our imminent trip to Manchester to attend the British Council of Shopping Centres Conference. If you are planning to attend, please let me know and we can arrange a meeting.
Kind regards
Terence Ritchie

Joint Head of Real Estate
