‘Equity’ is the amount of money you have tied up in your home, calculated on the basis of the value of your property less any mortgage or other loans you have secured against it.

With equity release you can access some of the money tied up in your home, without selling or moving home. In return you can choose to receive a cash lump sum, a regular income, or a mixture of the two.

A home reversion, will involve the sale of a share in your home to a reversion company, in exchange for a lump sum or a regular income.
